Time off has paid off, dead lift up 30lbs to 395lbs

So it has been a short time since writing about my training.

After going to Boston back at the end of March, I took time off from lifting.

I kept doing the track training mostly working on explosiveness and speed.

I cut back to working out 3 days on and 4 days off.

Back on May 3rd I ran  a 100m at a track meet and ran 11.3, that is .3 faster than I ran all of last year.
Last week I started lifting again and doing treadmill training, but still going 3 days on and 4 days off.

I started with lite lifting, dead lift of 175 lbs and hang cleans of 175 lbs.

Yesterday and this morning I started with dead lifts. back squat, hang clean and RDL at 145 lbs, cheetah, lion, kangaroo and standard style.

Tonight after working out at the track, I did some heavy dead lifts, Kangaroo style at 395 lbs , that is 30 lbs more than what I did  over two months ago.

I also did off set kangaroo at 295 lbs along with lion, cheetah and standard.

I am 4 weeks out from a track meet and I am just tuning up for it.

for the treadmill I will have to switch to one that goes 12 mph, at 10 mph at 6 percent incline is to slow I have to slow down for the treadmill. That is a good thing, to see that my CNS is still at a high state of alertness.

I friend of mine is attempting to run a “fast” mile. He’s 40years old, and ran track back in high school and college, and has been relatively fit though out his adult life. About a year and a half ago he broke his leg playing football… and as part of his recovery has decided to attempt a 4:40 mile. Last weekend he ran a 4:59.9 in the first race of the season. He has 10 weeks before the end of his Masters season. Any chance he can do it? Any advice for him?

sure he can do it, how is he training for it?
I would say, don’t do the mileage thing, do a 20 minute run in the morning for aerobic conditioning
then do speed stuff on the track, also he doesn’t have to run everyday let the body adjust to each workout and build from there.
If you get me some video of him running I could exactly what he should do. All I need to see if 20 yards of him running
